PM-Dialogue-Highlights
ISLAMABAD, July 25 (APP) - Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani’s Dialogue with the Nation began here Monday with the first interactive session here at the PM Secretariat. Following are the highlights:
•    The discourse was first of its kind by any political leader
•    The dialogue will have three more sessions with actors, educationists, social workers, media persons
•    Cabinet Secretary Nargis Sethi said the venue is used for major policy decisions and shows significance of interaction
•    Prime Minister Gilani appreciated the free, frank discussion
•    PM took notes of important points and responded to all at the end
•    A writer from Balochistan said he was expelled from a meeting by former President General Ziaul Haq, but thanked Prime Minister for bearing with him
•    Gilani said he was a politician and understands bitterness and govt was working sincerely to end the sense of deprivation
•    He said Charter of Democracy has been implemented 80%
•    He said internal challenges were more difficult to address and requires concerted efforts by entire nation
•    The recommendations will be incorporated in PM’s speech on
August 14
•    The Cabinet Secretary, who conducts Cabinet meetings, said she dared not give any time limit to the intellectuals
•    interactive session stretched beyond the scheduled time and views of not all could be accommodated
•    Amjad Islam Amjad quoted Chairman Mao who advised a political leader to “Go to the people. Don’t teach them. Learn from them.”
•    Writers urged uniform syllabus, literary centers, on-line libraries
•    PM assured to convene meeting of CCI to discuss uniform syllabus
•    Waning spirit of nationalism was a common point raised
•    Writers urged recognition at Parliamentary level to help play a role in national policy making
•    Info Minister said interactive session would help set priorities for Pakistan’s future
