Gilani pays respects at ‘Defenders of motherland’ memorial
ASTANA, Kazakhstan, Sep 7 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Wednesday visited the monument of ‘Defenders of motherland’ to pay respects to the Kazak nationals who laid down their lives for their country. The Prime Minister who arrived in the Kazakh capital Tuesday, visited the memorial also known as ‘Otan Korgaushylar’ representing an episode of battle of Kazakhs against the invaders. Prime Minister Gilani stood silent for a minute to pay homage to the unknown legendaries who took part in shaping a modern Kazakhstan.
Gilani also witnessed the ‘Eternal flame’ at the foot of bronze monument and laid a wreath in memory of the Kazakh heroes.
The bronze monument that appears as an ear turned to the sky has a majestic outline and completes the symbolic design of stela casting the thoughts of spiritual heritage. The figure reflects the image of a Mother of mankind meeting her sons, while the 40-metre high stela consisting of 101 ears symbolizes the unity of all nations in Kazakhstan.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by Minister for Production Anwar Ali Cheema, Governor Punjab Sardar Latif Khosa, Senator Ghulam Ali (JUI) and MNA Qamar Zaman Kaira.
