Prime Minister to leave for Tehran on Sunday on three-day visit
ISLAMABAD, Sep 10 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani will leave for Tehran on Sunday for three-day visit for talks with the Iranian leadership on further strengthening bilateral relations and exchanging views on regional issues. The Prime Minister will visit Tehran, Gilan and Mushhid during this three day visit. The Prime Minister will also discuss strengthening of transportation and communication links, cooperation in energy, economic and trade fields and preferential tariff arrangements.
Early completion on the important gas pipeline project to get gas from Iran will also be discussed during this visit besides discussion on the possibility of importing 1000 MW of electricity from Iran would be other important subjects of discussion during the visit of Prime Minister Gilani to Iran.
Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi visited Pakistan this week to attend Pak-Iran Joint Economic Commission and also signed a number of MoUs to increased bilateral trade to $4.5 billion dollars by 2014.
Pakistan-Iran Joint Economic Commission was established to strengthen bilateral economic relations.
The Iranian Foreign Minister also held meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar besides detailed discussion with Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Sheikh for strengthening bilateral relations and trade and enhancing cooperation in transportation, communication links and energy sector.
