PM visits his ancestral Gilan province
GILAN, Iran, Sep 13 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday visited the homeland of his ancestors in the city of Rasht, capital of Gilan province.  The Prime Minister was accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar, Minister for Textile Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Minister for Professional and Technical Training Riaz Hussain Pirzada and Senator Sughra Imam. Governor Mehdi Saadti welcomed the Prime Minister on his arrival in the ancestral city. Children standing in the arena waved Pakistani and Iranian flags to cheer the visiting dignitaries.
On his arrival in Rasht, the Prime Minister was warmly received by high-ranking Iranian officials.
The Prime Minister went around the city of Rasht, known as a place of attraction for domestic tourists of Iran. Gilan is the north western province of Iran along the Caspian sea.
The governments of Pakistan and Iran have declared Multan and Rasht (province of Gilan) as sister cities.
