PPP observes Black Day
LAHORE, July 5 (APP): Pakistan People's Party Lahore President and Federal Minister Samina Khalid Ghurki has said that democracy in the country today is result of the sacrifices of leaders of the PPP. Addressing a public gathering to observe Black Day organised by the PPP Lahore at Aiwan e Iqbal here on Thursday, she paid tribute to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Shaheed and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed for their contributions for revival of democracy in the country and said that no party other than the PPP had this pride that its leaders sacrificed their lives for democracy and the country. She said some elements still wanted to derail democracy but the PPP-led government would turn down their all conspiracies. She said the PPP would continue its struggle for the protection of democracy under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and its workers would never hesitate to sacrifice their lives for democracy by following their leaders. She hoped that now no one could dare to topple a democratic government, adding the PPP had permanently blocked the door of dictators like Zia Ul Haq. Earlier, Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Raja Riaz Ahmad said that ZAB Shaheed was political teacher of the PPP workers and he was alive in the hearts of the workers even he was buried in the grave but, he added no one remembered Zia Ul Haq as he was dictator. He said even the sons of Zia did not remember him (Zia) on his death or birth anniversaries but ZAB Shaheed remained alive in the shape of a philosophy and slogans like " Zinda hai Bhutto Zinda hai". He said PML-N leaders Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif tried their best to topple the democratic government by following their political teacher Zia Ul Haq but they failed in their designs. He saluted President Zardari for his vision and said it was the vision of President Asif Ali Zardari that he did not allow any one to harm democracy even after replacement of a prime minister. He said Shahbaz Sharif tried to act like ZAB Shaheed by wearing clothes like him (ZAB) but Shahbaz must know leadership needed sacrifices. PPP Women Wing Lahore President Faiza Malik and other senior leaders addressed the gathering.
