Peace in Karachi to be restored at every cost: Rehman Malik
ISLAMABAD, Sep 21 (APP): Interior Minister Rehman Malik said on Tuesday that peace in Karachi would be restored at any cost.Talking to media persons outside the Parliament, he said target killings in Karachi was not a new phenomena. However, he said due to the government steps, situation in the city is improving.The Minister said Director General Rangers has been asked to enhance the strength in the city.He said he also discussed the issue with Sindh Chief Minister and federal government would extend support to the provincial government in the restoration of peace in the city.
He added that he would also visit Karachi to discuss the issue with the Sindh government.
The Minister said some elements wanted to disturb peace in Karachi but they will not succeed in their nefarious designs.
To a question he said the government would make all arrangements on the occasion of Dr.Imran Farooq’s funeral.
About Dr. Afia he said he had written a letter to US attorney general for her release.
He added that cases against Dr. Afia are fake and Pakistan Ambassador Hussain Haqqani has also talked to US attorney general in the regard.
To a question he said Afghanistan has been handed over proof of it involvement in Pakistan’s internal affairs.
The Minister said that some elements enter in Balochistan from Afghanistan and create law and order situation in the province.
On the issue of Umar Cheema, he said a committee has been constituted to probe the issue.
