Terrorists resort to target-killing: Malik
ISLAMABAD, Mar 3 (APP); Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Thursday said terrorists after facing crushing defeat on country’s western borders had started committing target-killing as suicide attacks, which involved killing of innocent people, earned them disgrace.The minister referring to an intelligence report received on late Wednesday cautioned the political forces to be careful as the terrorists can carry out more nefarious acts by targeting ‘big-heads’, he said while talking to journalists at Parliament House on Thursday.Malik said Minister for Minorities Affairs Shahbaz Bhatti was killed in a well-planned move, which he termed an attack on democracy.s.
He said fool proof security escort comprising of 15 strong and fully armed personnel was provided to the slain minister, but he opted not to avail it during his preferred and frequented destinations.
The minister said various clues had been found in the killing of Shahbaz Bhatti that would lead the investigators to grab those who orchestrated this shameful act.
Every aspect of this case was being looked into thoroughly and if someone even from police found guilty of dereliction of duty “I would take action,” he added.
Malik commended all security forces which had made considerable achievements and served a crushing blow to Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
He said minorities being Pakistani citizens were safe in the country and that the demise of Shahbaz Bhatti would not go in vain, who had laid down his life while fighting against terrorism.
The minister said TTP sparked sectarian clashes in Karachi, targeted Shia community in Quetta and was desperate to stir public unrest in the country by hitting the big head.
He urged to forge national unity to foil the malicious designs of terrorist.
