Terry Jones be treated as terrorist: Malik
ISLAMABAD, Mar 28 (APP): Interior Minister Rehman Malik Monday said Pakistan has taken up the recent desecration of the Holy Quran by lunatic Priest Terry Jones with Interpol Secretary as well as at international forum. “We have requested Interpol to take action against Terry Jones under terrorism charges,” the Minister informed the Upper House of the Parliament. The Federal Minister said that he had taken up the matter with Secretary Interpol and requested him through a letter to take up the matter with Pope and the priest must be treated as terrorist as he was fanning religious hatred which was a criminal act.
He further said the government had demanded the US government and Adviser Minorities Affairs to take stern action against the Pastor as he had done something on his own interpretation of Christianity.
He said that the President of Pakistan in his address to joint sitting of the parliament also agitated against the sacrilege act and gave directives to raise the matter in United Nations.
He said the government is supportive of the demand of all political parties and the nation that the priest must be given strict punishment.
Malik informed the House that it was also decided in Cabinet meeting that “all resources would be utilized to convey a strong message to the world that we the Muslims must not be considered as weak. We would not tolerate any blasphemy against our religion or Holy Book.”
