Firdous, Malik ask media persons to constitute a committee to solve their problems
ISLAMABD, Sep 12 (APP): Federal   Ministers for Information and Broadcasting and Interior  advised  media persons on Monday  to constitute  a committee for redressal of their issues. Speaking to media persons who had staged walkout from press gallery of the National Assembly,  the ministers assured them  that the government  them in their efforts to resolve the  problemsbeing faced by them. Both the ministers suggested to the media persons to set up a committee comprising the representatives of media  organizations  for ensuring resolution of various issues confronting them. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan assured that the Ministry of Information would take up the issues  confronting media persons with Interior Ministry and  every effort would be made   to solve them.
She said that it would also be ensured that no political group or any individual  take any step against  freedom of expression.
The information minister referred   to  incidents of  violence against media persons   and said that the government would not tolerate it as this amounted to attack on freedom of expression.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik also assured full support of the government and his ministry  to help media persons in their efforts to solve their  problems .
Earlier, the media persons staged a walkout from the press gallery of the National Assembly  in support of journalists who were subjected to violence in various parts of the country.  
They also protested against sacking of media persons  by some media organisations.
