Malik demands action against Shahbaz under Article 6
ISLAMABAD, Oct 29 (APP): Interior Minister Abdul Rehman Malik said here on Saturday that Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif had violated Section 6 of rhe Constitution and therefore, action should be taken against him. Talking to media, Rehman Malik said Shahbaz has declared his 10 Rest Houses as Chief Minister Houses just to derive benefit for himself. The Interior Minister said such acts were not lawful and these could be clearly placed in the category of scandals. Rehman Malik disclosed that he would reveal all these scandals in his forthcoming book which would soon hit the stands. He said that all Pakistani nationals and even foreigners, living the country were required to abide by the provisions of the Constitution. The President of Pakistan in accordance with the 18th Amendment, has surrendered all his powers to the Parliament of the country. He said the Senate, the National Assembly and the President are not just individuals, but they are institutions in their own right.
He said if anybody issues statement against any institution of the country, it becomes incumbent to invoke Article 6 against him” .
He thanked Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain for extending support to the President and condemning the use of unparliamentary language against the Head of State.
“I fully appreciate rich knowledge possessed by MQM chief, his loyalty to Pakistan and respect that he has shown for the Constitution .
The Interior Minister said if “we go through Article 5, it amply calls for submitting to the Constitutional provisions which all people are leaglly and morally bound to prove by their word and deed .
Responding to a question, he said Imran Khan has been conditionaly granted permission to hold a rally in Lahore .
Criticising the rally of PML-N held yesterday in Lahore , he said the Opposition should discuss the issues of national importance in the Parliament rather than resorting to such acts.
The Federal Minister hailed the statement of the leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan who had stated that his party did not want to destabilise the government.
The Interior Minister said the contradictory statements issued by PML-N leaders clearly reflected the existence of differences in their ranks.
The Federal Minister cited the instance of slogans raised by a group of workers of PML-N against the President. This was in sharp contrast with the statement of Chaudhry Nisar who asserted that his party did not desire to remove the government.Referring to the documentary aired by BBC as baseless Rehman Malik said Pakistan would take legal action against it. In the report, law enforcement agencies have been targeted with malafide intentions.
The Minister said: “According to the report of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), a person claiming to be Taliban has levelled baseless allegations against Pakistan. This is one-sided story. The BBC has violated journalistic ethics. They should have contacted Pakistan before airing such story. At the moment experts are examining its contents and Pakistan will take up the issue later on.”
He reminded international community that Pakistan was fighting against terrorists and it was the main victim of the terrorists. Most of the terrorists belong to Afghanistan as seven million refugees were living here and responsible for Pakistan’s several problems. “We have love for Afghani brothers but they are being misused.” He welcomed recent statement of President Kazai to stand by Pakistan through thick and thin.
Responding to a question, he gave the details of the Rest Houses declared as Chief Minister Houses which include: Model Town, Raiwind Estate, 90 Shahria-e-Quaid Azam, 8-Club Road, 7-Club Road, CM House Murree, etc.
He said he had plenty of material against the Sharifs. Shahbaz always stresses simplicity but he has burdened the provincial exchequer by declaring 10 CM houses.
Shahbaz should avoid blame-game, Malik said and added “If he discloses what PML-N is hiding from the public, it will become impossible for the party to remain in politics.”
He said several leaders and legislators of PML-N were in contact with him and they are also astonished at the behivour of their leadership.
