Rehman Malik calls for promoting regional culture
ISLAMABAD, Nov 19 (APP): Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Saturday called for promotion of regional culture to ensure lasting peace, brotherhood and an atmosphere of co-existence in the country. Addressing the media after attending a ceremony held in connection with Sindh Cultural Day, organized by a local TV channel here, he said Sindhi traditional cap and shawl “Sindhi Topi and Ajrak” are symbols of love and friendship. Sindh Senior Minister Pir Mazharul Haq was also present on the occasion. Rehman Malik, wearing a traditional Sindhi cap and shawl, appreciated the media for playing effective role in projecting rich cultures of different civilizations and creating awareness among masses about regional traditions, cultural values and practices being followed across the country.
He said there is no room for sectarianism and ethnicity in the country as it has already suffered a lot due to the menaces of extremism and terrorism.
