Malik reviews security arrangements for Muharram
ISLAMABAD, Nov 25 (APP): Federal Minister for Interior  Rehman Malik on Friday reviewed security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Harram and directed officers from provincial and federal law enforcement agencies and home departments to implement the detailed instructions issued by the Ministry of Interior in letter and spirit.He said that no derogatory speech should be allowed and the local SHO (Station House Officer) should ensure the compliance. The SHOs should also ensure that wall chalking promoting hatred or violence is checked and controlled /obliterated. Any wall chalking if not obliterated, local SHO will be responsible.
Close co-ordination should be done with the provinces. They will share vital information necessary for peaceful processions, he added.
 Provincial Police Officers (IGPs) and Home Secretaries of all provinces, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir briefed the meeting about their security plans to deal with the law and order situation in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
 The Home Secretaries and Inspetors Generals of Police (IGPs) were directed to ban inter-district/province movement of fire brand speakers during Muharram.
 The Interior Minister directed the Home Secretaries and the Director General of National Crisis Management Cell to establish an operation room immediately for Muharram-ul-Harram.
 The Minister said the Pakistan Electronic Regulatory Authority had been asked to monitor channel and block such channels spreading hate, violence and religious intolerance.
