Malik announces 5 percent job quota for heirs of martyred cops

       
ISLAMABAD, Oct 9 (APP): Federal Minister for Interior A. Rehman Malik on Saturday announced to allocate five per cent job quota for the heirs of martyred policemen in police department alongwith plots and loans on easy installments.He made the announcement while inaugurating the National Police Martyrs’ Monument here at Police Line Headquarters. The names of martyred personnel of four federal police organizations, four provincial police organizations, AJK police and Gilgit Baltistan have been inscribed on the stones of this monument.
Secretary Interior Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, former Secretary Interior Syed Kamal Shah, Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Kaleem Imam, DIG (Operations) Bani Ameen, DIG Headquarters Kamal Uddin Tipu, DIG (Security Division) Dr. Mujeeb ur Rehman, senior police officials, foreign dignitaries and other notables were also present on the occasion.
Names of more than 500 martyred police officers have been carved in the minarets while Safwat Gayyur Shaheed Police Martyrs Gallery has been also established in the vicinity of this monument to pay homage to the valiant Commandant of FC.
The minister said that 1825 security personnel including officials from Islamabad police, Federal Investigation Agency, Motorway and Railway police,provincial police organizations, AJK Police and Giligt-Baltistan police have laid  down their lives in the line of duty.
“I cannot forget tears of the heirs of martyred personnel when I visit their homes.  It is our duty to take care of the family members of these security  personnel and provide them maximum facilities because their family heads have sacrificed their lives to protect us,” he maintained.
On the occasion, he directed National Police Foundation to allot plots to the heirs of martyred personnel and also take practical steps to establish housing society for them. 
He also directed to provide loans to the family members of martyred souls on easy installments and to establish Welfare Committee for bringing significant improvement in the lives of policemen. “I promise to make low ranking policemen -Constables an index and preface of Islamabad police and uplift the lives of these policemen,” he added.
This Committee would be headed by former IGP Dil Jan Khan and submit recommendations for welfare of the policemen.
The minister urged international community to acknowledge role of Pakistan in countering terrorism and giving sacrifices to establish peace in the world.
“We are suffering a lot but our determination is firm. We will not allow any one  to use our soil and work together with common strategy against the common enemy,”  he added.
Rehman Malik said that respect was given to the mother of Fazalullah but in return they murdered innocent people and humiliated the women. “We will not leave these cruel people till they announce to become peaceful or put down the weapons,” he maintained.
He appreciated the role of Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies in war against terrorism and said their sacrifices would be remembered forever. He also thanked Wafaq ul Madaris and Tanzeem ul Madaris for declaring suicide  attacks, forbidden (Haram) in Islam and said those attacking at shrines, mosques,
schools, colleges can not be Muslims and they would not be spared.
He also mentioned the determination of Shaheed Constble Muhammad Ashraf who  received bullet injuries in a bid to protect the Federal Minister for Religious  Affairs and said this brave young policeman told me before his breathing his last that” we will never bow before terrorists and root out the menace of terrorism.
I salute to the this valiant policeman and the nation having such brave officials  always remain rotected”.
Secretary Interior Qamar Zaman Chaudhry also appreciated those who laid  their lives for dignity of all of us. He complimented Inspector General of Police  Islamabad Syed Kaleem Imam for taking this initiative of establishing Monument and ensured every possible assistance to the families of martyred personnel.
IGP Islamabad Syed Kaleem Imam in his welcome said that Islamabad Police is utilizing all available resources to ensure protection to the lives and property of citizens. He thanked the present government for enhancing the compensation for the heirs of martyred personnel from Rs. 500,000 to 20,00,000 and for wounded cops from Rs. 3,00,000 to Rs. 5,00,000.
Former Secretary Interior Syed Kamal Shah, Formers IGPs Dil Jan Khan, Mohib  Asad, Malik Habib  also spoke on the occasion and appreciated IGP Islamabad Syed  Kaleem Imam for taking this unique step to acknowledge sacrifices of the martyred  personnel.
The IGP said that names of around 2500 martyred personnel are yet to be  carved on minarets as details are being collected. He said that a library would  be also set up giving complete details to visitors about the sacrifices rendered by the martyred cops.
The minister assured to sanction fund for this library and also appreciated  the IGP Kaleem Imam for taking such steps. He also promised to consider the recommendation of Islamabad police for declaring National Police Martyrs Day and said that all provinces, AJK government and Gilgit-Baltistan administration will be taken on board on this issue. “ It is the prerogative of the Prime Minister to announce National Day and decision would be made after consultation with all stakeholders,” he added.
Later, the minister distributed the appointment letters among the children and kin of Shaheed personnel. He also announced to appoint those having B.A qualification on the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector and those with B.A, LLB qualification on the rank of Sub-Inspector.  The minister distributed shields among those who cooperated in the project of establishing Monument including DIG Headquarters Kamal Uddin Tipu, SSP Headquarters Zubair Ahmed Hashmi, SP Headquarters Ashfaq Ahmed Khan, Project Designer and also thanked for assisting in this noble cause.
