Task force constituted to root out menace of corruption 

      
ISLAMABAD, Oct 20 (APP)- Minister for Interior A. Rehman Malik on Wednesday announced to constitute Task Force for abolishing corruption from the various institutions and to make society transparent from corrupt elements. This task force will comprise of officials from Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Intelligence Bureau and to start operation within 15 days to root out the menace of corruption from various organizations, Rehman Malik said at the inaugural ceremony of Recreation Room and Day Care Centre at Women Police Station at G-7 Markaz.
Chief Commissioner Islamabad Tariq Mehmud Pirzada, Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Kaleem Imam, DIG (Operations) Bani Ameen, DIG (Headquarters) Kamal Uddin Tipu, DIG (Security) Dr. Mujeeb ur Rehman, SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan, SSP (Traffic) Dr. Moeen Masood, AIG Muhammad Ashraf Zubair Siddiqui, SSP Headquarters Ashafaq Ahmed Khan, SPs Jameel Hashmi, Umer Hyat and other senior police officials were also present on the occasion.
He said that those involved in corruption and promoting the corrupt practices would be arrested and also urged media to help them in pointing those elements damaging the national kitty through their dishonest attitude.
The minister said that he started the operation against corrupt from his own ministry and several officials and staffers have been sent to jail over their corrupt attitude.
After every two months, the performance of the task force would be reviewed and every possible effort would be made to get rid of criminal and corrupt elements,” he said and waned strict action against those involved in corruption.
Regarding the situation in Karachi, he said that several extortion groups are working in the various areas of this city including Liyari and Sher Shah and areas have been divided to take money through extortion. He said law enforcement agencies have found the lists from the nabbed persons arrested on the charges of extorting money from the various areas and Director General Rangers has been directed to arrest those involved in this crime.
He thanked religious scholar for their cooperation in maintaining peace and eradicate the menace of corruption and extremism. He urged all the political parties to get united to save Pakistan from the external as well as internal challenges including terrorism. Rehman Malik said that Charter of Demcoracy should be followed and efforts to be made Pakistan stronger.
He also urged to inculcate patience and tolerance and not to spread rumors creating disturbance in the country.
The minister said that PPP government is committed to provide women equal opportunities in every field of life as society can not make progress without their valuable contribution.
He said that women are making significant contribution for the development of the country due to the revolutionary measures introduced by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. He said that women have been given equal opportunities in the offices of NADRA and Passport and also directed the Chief Commissioner Islamabad to maintain separate seniority list of women cops of Islamabad.
The minister also announced to promote Assistant Sub-Inspector Sadaf to the rank of Sub-Inspector and to check the status of other lady cops working in the same rank for a long period. He directed to maintain separate seniority list for women cops and policemen.
He urged the police officials to inculcate friendly police ecology in the society and also appealed the parents to maintain eye on the activities of their children.
Chief Commissioner Islamabad said that performance of Islamabad police is really appreciable which has contributed a lot to root out the menace of terrorism and arrested several terrorists. He said that every possible effort would be made to further facilitate the policemen.
Inspector General of Islamabad Syed Kaleem Imam said that better working environment has been focused for the police officials and recreation rooms as well as gyms have been established. He said that several welfare steps including health insurance scheme, motorcycle scheme have been introduced for cops. “ It is really good omen that performance of cops have improved a lot after provision of better working environment to them,” he maintained.
The IGP said that Women police station has been inaugurated by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in 1994 and every possible effort being made to ensure safer working environment for the lady cops.
The IGP said that female inmates will stay in this Day Care Centre so that they can ensure better upbringing of their children instead of staying in the lock up.
Later, he distributed shields among DIG Operations Bani Ameen, DIG Headquarters Kamal Uddin Tipu, SP Jameel Hashmi, SHO Women Police Station Sadaf Basharat for their brilliant performance and also gave honorary shields to civilians Ghulam  Rabbani and Irfan Kaka Khel for their cooperation with police.
