3,000 women to be inducted in Karachi Police

       
KARACHI, Oct 22 (APP):  Federal Minister for Interior, A. Rehman Malik, has said that 3,000 women personnel would be inducted in the Karachi police force.“The policewomen will be imparted training  on modern day policing system,” he said while talking to media after he attended a meeting on law and order situation at the Central Police Office (CPO).IGP Sindh Sultan Salahuddin Babar Khattak briefed the Minister on various issues faced by police. Sindh Home Minister, Zulfiqar Mirza was also present.
Regarding the operation against criminals in Karachi, Rehman Malik said that the police and rangers are taking joint but covert action against the criminals involved in the killings.
“It is our strategy that at this stage no information will be shared with the media as criminals get its benefit,” he said.
He said the government is enjoying cordial working relationship with its coalition partner MQM and differences of opinion could happen and are resolved amicably.
“Our leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and that of MQM chief Altaf Hussain believes in policy of consensus,” he said.
Federal Minister said that the PPP has respect for  all the parties and it may be MQM, ANP or any other and that all parties have to work together for peace in Karachi and rest of the country.
He said that it is internationally accepted that Pakistan is actively taking part in war against terrorism and has weakened the backbone of the terrorists.
“We have had successful operation against terrorists on the Western border and our Army has done a credible job,  may  it be Tehrik- e- Taliban, Al-Qaeda or Lashkar-e- Jhangvi we took action against them,” he said.
Malik said that 5 dedicated telephone lines are being installed at the Central Police Office (CPO) which will promptly give response to media about any type of crime in the city.
Sindh Home Minister Dr. Zulfiqar said that the government will not succumb to any pressure from any quarter while taking action against the criminal elements.
He urged all the political parties not to issue aggressive and provocative statements which fuel further speculation about the law and order situation in the metropolis.
“No criminal will be spared and action will be taken against them without any discrimination,” he added.
Dr. Mirza said that on Friday morning a high-profile accused involved in the recent killings has been arrested which will help achieve a breakthrough in the current investigations.
In addition, he said a hardened dacoit of upper Sindh identified as Qadri Chachar with a head money of Rs 2 million, has been killed in an encounter by Ghotki police.
