Foolproof security arrangements for Muharram: Rehman Malik       
ISLAMABAD,  Dec 16 (APP): Minister for Interior Rehman Malik on Thursday said that foolproof security arrangements have been made during Muharram for protection of citizens and to avert from any terrorist activity in the country.Talking to journalists here during visit to procession of 9th Muharram, the minister said that some anti-state elements always remain busy to destabilize the country, however due to adequate security measures they will fail to fulfill their nefarious designs. He said standandard operating procedures (SOPs) have been prepared for Muharram-ul-Harram and these SOPs are being implemented in true spirit in the federal capital and other parts of the country.
He added cooperation between ulema of both sects is exemplary who have practically evinced unity and integrity.He said last night there were reports of any attempt of act of terrorism in Muharram procession in Gujranwala, however, the ministry of Interior immediately conveyed this information to the local security officials and security had been enhanced keeping in view of the situation and the procession was concluded safely.
“I had issued special instructions to the concerned officials of Gujranwala late night, which had been fully followed to protect  the citizens.” He said same security measures have been adopted in other districts of Punjab including Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi to avert from any untoward situation.
He said besides cities of Punjab, the situation is also under control in Karachi, Quetta and  Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and directions have been passed on to the officials concerned to pull them out all resources to provide full security during Muharram.
He added the situation in Dera Ismail Khan is tensed however all concerned security arrangements have been made there. He said the ministry of Interior has provided two helicopters to each province for surveillance of sensitive areas while the ulema of Parachinar have signed a peace agreement. He added police is doing a good job while Rangers, FC and Frontier Constabulary are on stand by.
Rehman Malik said “ We are looking after all things vigorously and made assurance that there will be complete peace during this Muharram.”  
Replying to a question regarding blast in Iran, the minister said the President and the Prime Minister of  Pakistan have expressed their grieves on this incident. He added “I personally sent a condolence message to the Iranian Interior minister.”
“We are suffering in same way and we stand with Iran and show full solidarity not being a Muslim country but a  neighbor friend and extend full support. If they need any help or information we are ready for this and we are at their disposal. If terrorism is initiated in Pakistan or any neighbor country whether Iran or any other, we will not tolerate it.”
Rehman Malik said “ We are ready to provide unconditional support to every one who is suffering from terrorism because we know such sufferings as we are facing such sufferings. We don’t want to see our friends, brothers and sisters in suffering in any country.”
He said “Jandullah is a terrorist organization and we have done our best and are ready to take further action if we receive any information.”
