All logistic support to be extended to Sindh to control law and order: Malik
KARACHI, July 25 (APP): Federal Government will provide all logistic support to the Sindh Government to control the law and order situation not only in Karachi but also in interior of the province, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said here on Monday. “The President also presided a meeting about the law and order situation in the province and approved provision of 40 Armoured Personnel Carrier (APCs) for the Police Department,” said Rehman Malik while talking to APP after holding meetings at Bilawal House and at the Chief Minister House here.
Malik said the President has issued directives to the Sindh Police and Rangers to ensure peace in the metropolis.
The President has directed for serious efforts to control the situation and it has been endeavour of the government to continue with the policy of reconciliation and at the same time talks were also underway with MQM and ANP to maintain peace in the mega city, Malik added.
“An African country has also informed us about the people involved in lawlessness in Karachi and has also provided a list of people involved in criminal activities and gang war in Karachi,” the Interior Minister added.
He said that the FIA authorities have also been directed to keep a vigil on those elements who were allegedly involved and moving within and outside the country while Airport Security Force (ASF) has also been put on alert.
“Action will be taken without any discrimination against anti-state elements,” he said.
He said the Chief Minister had made every effort to bring peace to the economic hub city.
The Interior Minister also urged the citizens to extend full cooperation to the police and Rangers and get help from them to check the movement of suspicious elements in their respective areas.
Rehman Malik said that the Federal Government will provide all support to the Sindh government to maintain law and order as Karachi was backbone of the country.
