Malik hints at army deployment in Karachi


Minister for Interior Rehman Malik has said that army could be deployed in Karachi if needed.
Rehman Malik has also issued shoot at sight orders to the Rangers in Karachi after targeted killings in the city.
While talking to media after meeting with MQM delegation at Nine Zero, he said that after Malakand and FATA, terrorists were trying to destabilize Karachi. He said that judicial inquiry would be held of Karachi target killings.
Rehman Malik also met Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad and discussed Karachi’s current situation. He said that the government was trying to tighten the noose around miscreants and terrorist.
Senior analyst Najam Sethi while talking to Dunya News has said that the government would never deploy army in Karachi because army was busy in other operations. He said that rangers could be given more authority as they are ordered to shoot militants at sight today. Najam Sethi said that there were two ways to solve Karachi unrest, first was to give full authority to Karachi police and Rangers and second was to hold local body elections in the city.
