Malik resolves complete rehabilitation of flood victims
ISLAMABAD, Sep 1 (APP): Interior Minister, Rehman Malik on Wednesday said the federal government has proved its competency and seriousness by handling two phases of rescue and relief in flood affected areas and now the leadership will work for rehabilitation and reconstruction.“All available resources would be utilized for complete rehabilitation of affectees who had suffered colossal losses as a result of flash floods,” he told APP. The Minister said that rehabilitation of flood affectees and reconstruction in flood hit areas is top most priority of the government.
He appreciated the generous contributions of international community UN secretary, Saudi government, China, USA and other countries for the flood affectees.
However, he called for further support of the world community for complete rehabilitation of affectees and reconstruction in flood hit areas.
He said that supply of relief goods to flood relief camps has been increased by 10 trucks a day adding that Interior Ministry in collaboration with Pakistan Bait ul Mall will also supply cooked
foods to these camps.
He said that President Asif Ali Zardari has directed the authorities concerned that compensation to the affected should be paid immediately.
Malik said that on his direction the procedure has already been completed by NADRA and soon the compensation process would start.
He further said that the Prime Minister has also released funds for provision of tents and clean drinking water to the affected.
