Three-day polio drive kicks off in AJK

MUZAFFARABAD, Sep 17 (APP): A three-day door to door polio
campaign kicked off in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) during which a total of 749,000 children will be administered polio drops said officials on Sunday.
Minister for health services government of AJK Dr. Muhammad Najeeb Naqi
inaugurated the campaign by administering polio to a child here at a health facility.
For the success of campaign and achievement of objectives, 2103 polio
teams have been assigned the duty to administered polio drops to children door to door throughout Azad Kashmir besides setting up 410 fix centers and establishing 140 transit points, Dr. Bushra Shams, the in-charge of the programme said.
She told that 204 zonal supervisors and 525 Area In-charges had been
assigned the duty to supervise the campaign at union council’s level to ensure successfulness of drive.
She said beside this, control rooms had been established at headquarter
Muzaffarabad and at office of the Duty Commissioners of all the districts to monitor the campaign and make sure that every child was administered polio drops by health workers.
She said the officials of World health Organization (WHO), Federal EPI
programme and Health department government of AJK will monitor the campaign at central level while Deputy commissioners will oversea the drive in the areas under their jurisdictions.
She said Azad Kashmir had been a polio free zone for the past many years
and no case had been reported from the area during this time which was a solid proof of the successes of campaigns launched in the past.
