Agriculturists appreciate steps aimed at uplifting agri sector

LAHORE, May 26 (APP): Unprecedented steps aimed at
strengthening of agriculture sector have been announced in
the federal budget 2017-18.
A progressive farmer from Sahiwal Aslam Hameed said this
while talking to APP on Friday.
He said the PML-N government was sincere in resolving
problems of farmers for which it announced various incentives
for the uplift of growers and agriculture.
Incentives like to encourage newer agri machinery import,
new seeds would be provided to farmers and tariff subsidy to
tube-wells would continue, mark-up for agricultural loans for
land owners having less than 12.5 acre was being reduced to
9.9 per cent from around 15 per cent, were proof of steps
taken towards the stregtheing of agriculture in the country.
Another agriculturist Khalid Ibrahim from Pattoki termed
the federal budget 2017-18 farmers-friendly and said incentive
like removal of GST on imported sunflower and canola hybrid
seeds was commendable.
He said such steps would encourage farmers to contribute
more vigorously in the stability of national economy, besides
enabling them to earn better living.
Meanwhile, the civil society and local people highly
appreciated the budget and said that steps taken for betterment of agriculture would usher a new era of agricultural prosperity in the country.
