APHC denounces use of force on people in Shopian

ISLAMABAD, Jun 14 (APP): All Parties Hurriyet Conference in
Indian occupied Kashmir has strongly condemned the use of
excessive forces against civilians and ransacking of properties
and smashing vehicles during massive crackdown by Indian troops in
Shopian district.
Accoring to Kashmir Media Service, APHC in a statement issued in held
Srinagar Wednesday, said that authorities had let loose a reign of terror and instead of making these elements accountable for their wrongdoings,
they were being encouraged.
APHC said the authorities had declared a war on
civilians and said that they as mute spectators had vested
unbridled powers in forces and thus feeling unaccountable for
their wrongdoings.
The statement said that people of Shopian in a telephonic
message to APHC office divulged about the incident and said that
troops on Monday night vandalized dozens of shops and vehicles in
Vheil village of Shopian after locals burst a few firecrackers to
celebrate Pakistan’s win over Sri Lanka in the ongoing Champions
Trophy.
Reports reveal that the forces in a nearby camp stormed the
village as if they were in a battlefield facing an enemy force,
said the statement. They raided each household and caught hold of
inmates, thrashed them ruthlessly. “This sheer lawlessness
illustrates the egoistic and autocratic behavior of authorities.”
APHC spokesman Ayaz Akbar said that celebrating Pakistan’s
win over Sri Lanka was not legally any offence, as people love
Pakistan for its moral and political support to Kashmir cause.
