Tokyo shares open lower

TOKYO, Oct 18, (APP/AFP) – Tokyo stocks opened lower on Tuesday after two days of gains as an uptick in the yen dampened investor sentiment. The benchmark Nikkei 225 index slipped 0.11 percent, or 19.35 points, to 16,880.77 in the first few minutes of trading while the Topix index of all first-section issues was down 0.09 percent, or 1.17 points, at 1,351.39.
