Tokyo stocks open higher as weaker yen lifts exporters

TOKYO, (APP/AFP): Tokyo stocks opened higher Friday as a
weaker yen boosted exporters after trading resumed following a long public holiday.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 0.40
percent, or 65.29 points, to 16,212.67 in opening deals, while the broader
Topix index of all first-section shares gained 0.42 percent, or 5.44 points, to 1,305.40.
