Tokyo stocks open lower on BoJ survey, weak Wall St lead

TOKYO, (APP/AFP): Tokyo stocks opened lower on Friday after
a Bank of Japan survey showed confidence among Japan’s biggest manufacturers dropped during the first quarter of the year and following a weak lead from Wall Street.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange fell 0.23
percent, or 39.11 points, to 16,719.56 in opening deals, while the broader
Topix index of all first-section shares lost 0.29 percent, or 3.96 points, to 1,343.24.
