22,810 women widowed, 10,176 molested since 1989 in IOK

ISLAMABAD, Mar 8 (APP): As the world observes the International
Women’s Day, on Tuesday , the miseries and victimization of Kashmiri women by Indian troops and police personnel in Indian occupied Kashmir continue unabated.
According to a report released by the Research Section of Kashmir
Media Service, on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, thousands of women were among 94,327 civilians, martyred by Indian troops and other paramilitary forces since January 1989 till date.
It revealed that since January 1989 the state terrorism had rendered
22,810 women widowed while 10,176 were molested by the Indian forces’ personnel. The report said that thousands of women suffered the loss of their sons, husbands, fathers and brothers in the occupied territory who got disappeared in the custody and killed by the Army, police and paramilitary personnel. As per the Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons, more than 8,000 Kashmiris went missing during the past 27 years, it added.
The report further pointed out that majority of the Kashmiris
suffering from multiple psychic problems was of womenfolk.
