Hurriyet forum concerned over detainees’ plight in IoK

ISLAMABAD, Feb 3 (Millat+APP): Hurriyet forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq
has expressed concern over the plight of illegally detained Hurriyet leaders and activists languishing in different jails of Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, the forum spokesman in a statement
issued in held Srinagar said the detainees were not being provided basic amenities and necessary medical treatment. “The detention of a large number of resistance leaders and workers is being prolonged as a result of which their health condition is worsening,” he said.
The spokesman said that the political prisoners were not only deprived
of the facilities they were entitled to as per the jail manual but also were not presented in the courts on the day of hearing of their cases which showed frustration of the puppet authorities.
Strongly condemning the firing by Indian Army personnel on the
residential house of Muhammad Maqbool Sheikh of Mantrigam area of Bandipora, the spokesman said, “With these tactics not only were the residents harassed but an atmosphere of fear was created in the entire area.”
He said that Indian forces’ personnel were enjoying unbridled powers
under black laws like Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in occupied Kashmir which they were using on the civilian population of the territory.
