KARACHI, Mar 6 (APP): All the three units of CIA-Sindh – Anti
Violent Crime Cell, Special Investigation Unit and Anti Car-Lifting
Cell – arrested 197 suspects across Karachi during February 2017 and
recovered heavy cache of weapons, vehicles, drugs and liquor.
DIG CIA-Sindh, Dr. Jamil Ahmed at a press conference here on
Monday said a task force was constituted under the supervision of
the SSPs of the three CIA units to arrest those involved in wide
range of crimes in the metropolis.
During the month of February, he said, different teams of Anti
Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) during their raids arrested a number of
criminals involved in abduction for ransom, dacoity and varied
street crimes.
Weapons including 10 pistols, 10 magazines and bullets were
recovered from their possession, he added.
DIG Dr. Jamil Ahmed said Special Investigation Unit (SIU) teams
under the supervision of police officer Mahmood Farooq Awan busted
two criminal gangs and arrested suspects.
Three motorcycles, 13 pistols, 13 magazines, two dozen cartons
were recovered from them, he added.
Under the supervision of Senior Superintendent Police (SSP),
Manzoor Khatian, ACLC teams recovered 524 motorcycles, several four
wheelers, two klashnikovs besides other weapons, drugs and 144
bottles of smuggled liquor.
