Newspaper urges US to ditch hostile policy toward N Korea for dialogue

SEOUL, (MILLAT ONLINE)::A pro-North Korean newspaper in Japan said Wednesday the United States should give up its hostile policy toward the North for possible dialogue between Pyongyang and Washington, Yonhap report said.
The Chosun Sinbo said US policymakers should properly understand the meaning of inter-Korean agreements following North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s “openhearted” talks with South Korean envoys.
“If the US hopes to hold talks with North Korea, it should clearly see the development related to the South Korean special envoys’ trip to the North and ditch its existing misguided policy,” the newspaper said.
South Korea and North Korea have agreed to hold a summit of their leaders in late April, Chung Eui-yong, the chief of South Korea’s delegation, said Tuesday after the envoys’ two-day visit.
Kim Jong-un told them that the denuclearization issue may be discussed as part of the agenda for North Korea-US dialogue.
Despite North Korea’s expression of its willingness for talks, the newspaper said Pyongyang is not begging for dialogue.
“North Korea is cornering the U.S. through coordination with the South and a peace offensive. There is no reason for the North to be thirsty about dialogue with the U.S,” the paper said.
