OGOTA, (APP/AFP) – President Juan Manuel Santos voiced
optimism Wednesday that Colombia can end a half-century war with the FARC rebels, after meeting the top opponent of a peace deal rejected by voters in a referendum.
“Peace in Colombia is close and we will achieve it,” Santos said
after meeting his predecessor and nemesis, Alvaro Uribe, at the presidential palace for talks on salvaging the peace process.
