Tokyo stocks lose ground in morning as investors opt for profits

TOKYO, (MILLAT ONLINE):Tokyo stocks lost ground Monday morning as sentiment was weakened by Wall Street’s decline at the end of last week, coupled with investors opting for profits after the markets’ recent gains.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 154.21 points, or 0.68 percent, from Friday to 22,527.21.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 8.77 points, or 0.49 percent, to 1,791.67.

Real estate, marine transportation and securities-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
