AIG martyred, five policemen injured in suicide explosion

PESHAWAR, (MILLAT ONLINE):Additional Inspector General (AIG) Police Headquarters, Muhammad Ashraf Noor was
martyred and five police constables sustained injuries when a suicide bomber rammed
his motorcycle into their vehicle at Hayatabad area on Friday morning.
Peshawar Police Chief, Tahir Khan talking to media said it
was a suicide attack and the target was Additional IG Headquarters, Ashraf Noor
who lost his life in the deadly attack. The injured personnel were rushed to
Hayatabad Medical Complex.
AIG Ashraf Noor was on his way to office from his residence when his vehicle came
under attack near Zarghuni mosque.
The AIG’s vehicle caught fire after the explosion and was destroyed.
Two other vehicles were also damaged in the attack.
Bomb Disposal Squad officials told media that about 15
to 20 kilogram of explosive was used by the bomber.
The injured policemen are identified as driver Zeeshan, gunmen Ejaz, Rohullah,
and Shaukat Ali. The condition of Rohullah was stated to be critical.
AIG Ashraf Noor belonged to Gilgit Baltistan and had joined
the police force in 1989. He was a brave police officer who served on various
key posts including AIG Elite Force Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The security forces and police rushed to the site and cordoned
off the area and started search operation.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi , Chief Minister Punjab
Shahbaz Sharif, Governor KPK Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and Minister of State for
Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb have strongly condemned the
blast and expressed condolence with the members of the bereaved families.
The Prime Minister has also directed to provide the best possible treatment to the injured.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Chairman Imran Khan condemning the incident said
such brutal acts cannot deter KPK police’s and Government’s determination in fight
against terrorism.
Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has also
condemned the blast and condoled with the members of the bereaved families.
