AKUH opens new medical centres in Punjab

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT/APP): The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) has
opened two new medical centres to provide consulting clinics, vaccination,
radiology, laboratory and pharmacy services in Lahore, Rawalpindi and
surrounding areas.
Located on Jail Road, Lahore and Saidpur Road, Rawalpindi, these
facilities are in addition to 100 outreach centres throughout Punjab. The
country-wide network included 14 laboratories and above 250 outreach centers
in over 100 cities.
According to hospital statement, the Hospital’s Patient Welfare Programme can support those who cannot afford quality medical care. The programme has assisted over 2.25 million patient visits with Rs 9.5 billion disbursed since its inception in 1986.
One hundred and seventy-seven centres offer this facility throughout the country, including 63 in Punjab.
“AKU is dedicated to the principle that everyone deserves to have access to quality healthcare, regardless of their income,” said Firoz Rasul, President AKU, at the inauguration ceremony.
“The new medical centres in Punjab is part of our strategy to bring quality healthcare services into the local communities.”
The specialty clinics at the new centres will initially focus on family medicine, internal medicine, cardiology, and women and child health.
“Inauguration of these centres coincides with AKUH Clinical Laboratories’ accreditation from the College of American Pathologists, an internationally recognized standard for clinical laboratories. For patients, this means timely and more accurate diagnosis,” said Hans Kedzierski, Chief Executive Officer, AKUH.
“AKUH is also the only teaching hospital in Pakistan that is accredited by the Joint Commission International, a gold standard in healthcare delivery,” he added.
