Anti-polio campaign begins in Shikarpur

SUKKUR, Oct 24 (APP): A four-day anti-polio campaign kicked off on Monday in Shikarpur district to cover more than 279,109 children below five years of age. Deputy commissioner Abid Saleem Qureshi inaugurated the anti-polio drive by administering anti-polio drops to children at DHQ Hospital. He said that strict measures would be put in place for the ongoing anti-polio campaign, which would continue till October 27. He hoped that the disease would be eradicated from the region soon and said the government was keen to eradicate polio from the country because it has become a serious threat to the lives of children. He also urged the district health officials to keep a close watch over the activities of the vaccination teams. Action will be taken against those found involved in negligence during the three-day anti-polio campaign, DC added.
