Chokar prices reduced by Rs 10 in city

GILGIT, (MILLAT ONLINE/APP): The District Administration has reduced Chokar
(wheat fodder) prices by Rs10 and now the commodity would be sold in local market on Rs20 instead of Rs30.
This decision has been taken during a high-level meeting between
Assistant Commissioner (AC) and Chairman Price Review Committee Naveed Ahmed and office bearers of flour mills association here at his office.
The AC said district administration was making concrete efforts to
provide quality flour besides its smooth delivery to people.
He said that 15 kilogram Chokar bag would now be sold at Rs350 in local
market and traders found guilty of violating this agreement would be sent to jails.
The meeting was attended by flour mills owners including Mukhtair Ahmed,
Nasiur Mir, Gulab Shah and others.
The meeting told that 28 flour mills were currently operating in
Giligt for which a quota of supplying of 3,46,000 wheat bags are fixed annually.
As many as 345 wheat bags are being provided to flour mills on weekly
basis that are being provided to people in a proper flour form.
He made it clear that no compromise would be made on standard of
flour and strict action would be taken against traders found guilty in adulteration.
The AC assured support to the traders and owners of flour mills to
address their genuine problems on priority basis.
