COAS visits alma matar – recalls memories of student life

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT+APP): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General
Raheel Sharif on Friday visited his alma mater, Government College
University (GCU) Lahore, and interacted with the students and
faculty members.
In line to revive old memories, the COAS visited various
sections of the premier institute specially the parts where he had
spent his days of being student, an Inter Services Public Relations
(ISPR) news release stated.
Paying rich tributes to both the faculty and management of the
University for their role towards grooming and honing the country’s
youth, the COAS said the GCU has always played a pivotal role in
producing a stream of scholars, scientists, artists and
intellectuals of international acclaim, who have contributed
immensely in their respective domains.
The COAS stressed the youth to always focus on 3Cs –
Character, Courage and Competence and keep striving for achieving
honour and dignity through hard work and unwavering faith in Allah.
General Raheel while expressing his optimism for brighter
future of the country, said “Pakistanis are a great nation and our
human resource is our real asset.”
Operation Zarb e Azb has laid a strong foundation for peace
and progress of the country and the youth can play pivotal role
towards taking the beloved homeland to new heights, he added.
Meanwhile, the sources revealed that the Vice Chancellor of
GCU said that the entire nation acknowledged the role and
contribution of Gen Raheel Sharif for successful conduct of
operation Zarb-e-Azb and operation in Karachi.
He also presented the admission form to General Raheel which
he had submitted back at the time of seeking admission in the GCU.
Earlier, the COAS was accorded warm welcome by the faculty and
students of the University.
