Court testifies four more witnesses against Dar

ISLAMABAD, (MILLATONLINE):An Accountability Court of Islamabad Monday testified four more prosecution
witnesses against Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in a reference regarding assets
beyond known sources of income and adjourned its hearing till December 21.
AC Judge Muhammad Bashir picked up the reference for hearing against
Ishaq Dar filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) regarding assets beyond
known sources of income.
During hearing, four NAB witnesses including Director National Assembly
Sher Dil Khan, Director Ministry Commerce Qamar Zaman, a private bank officer
Faisal Shahzad, and Deputy Secretary Cabinet Division Wasif Hussain, recorded
their statements.
Witness Faisal Shahzad also submitted details of bank accounts Tabbasm
Ishaq to the court while Qamar Zaman presented details pertaining to Dar’s
income and allowances.
Witness, Wasif Hussain, Deputy Secretary Cabinet Division, also recorded
his statement presenting details of Dar’s appointment as minister and other
portfolios.
The fourth witness, Sher Dil Khan provided details of Dar’s political career
and the various portfolios he has held since early 1990s.
Khan told the court that the minister had first become a
member of the NA in 1993 on the NA-95 Lahore seat. He was receiving a
salary of Rs14,000 a month as a member of the NA at the time, he added.
He said that in 1997, Dar was appointed as the minister of commerce.
Two years later, in 1999, former president Pervez Musharaf came into power.
Khan further said in 2013, Dar was made the minister of economic affairs,
revenue and statistics. He was also given the responsibilities of privatisation.
In August 2017, after Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the Supreme Court,
Dar was removed as finance minister and later held again the same charge in
cabinet of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
Meanwhile, the NAB prosecutor submitted the report regarding process to
confiscate the property of Ishaq Dar’s guarantor Ahmed Ali Qudoosi with the court
for failing to produce the accused before court despite repeated warnings.
