ISLAMABAD, (APP): Puppet authorities have imposed curfew and
other restrictions in Srinagar, Indian occupied Kashmir to prevent a march
towards the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Eidgah in the city.
Call for the march has been given by the Chairman of his own Hurriyet
forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, to mark the martyrdom anniversaries of prominent
Kashmiri liberation leaders, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul
Ghani Lone and the martyrs of Hawal, KMS reported.
The occupation authorities have deployed a large number of Indian
troops and police personnel in full riot gear in the city to prevent people from conducting the march.
The authorities have also placed under house arrest the All Parties
Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, and other Hurriyet leaders
including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik,
Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, Javaid Ahmed
Mir, Zafar Akbar Butt, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Muhammad Ashraf Laiya, Altaf
Ahmed Shah and Ayaz Akbar to stop them from leading the march.
Meanwhile, complete shutdown is being observed in the territory to mark
the martyrdom anniversaries of Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq, Abdul Ghani Lone and the Hawal martyrs. All shops and business establishments are closed while traffic s off the road.
Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq was shot dead by unidentified gunmen
after barging into his house in Srinagar on 21st May in 1990. Seventy mourners were killed when Indian troops fired at the funeral procession of the martyred leader in Hawal area of Srinagar. Twelve years later, on the same day in 2002, Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone was assassinated by unknown attackers when he was returning from addressing a gathering at Mazar-e-Shuhada in Srinagar.
On the other hand, the High Court Bar Association of the territory and
Hurriyet leader, Javaid Ahmed Mir, in their separate statements paid rich
tributes to Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq, Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone and the
martyrs of Hawal. They said that the sacrifices of these martyrs for the
liberation movement would always be remembered. The Patron of Jammu Kashmir
and Democratic Front, Pandit Bhushan Bazaz, also paid homage to Molvi Muhammad Farooq.
