Dire need to introduce legislation for changing process of senate elections: Tariq

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT ONLINE):State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Tariq Fazal Chaudhry Wednesday said there was a dire need to introduce legislation for changing the process of the Senate election and stopping horse trading in future and all political parties should play their role for the purpose.
Raza Rabbani was an experienced politician and having good reputation as chairman of the senate.
Talking to a private news channel, he said Raza Rabbani had run the upper house in its letter and spirit and due to his performance as a chairman of the Senate Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was supporting his name for the second term of the chairmanship.
He said there was no bad intention or any political objective of former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for supporting the name of Raza Rabbani to the chairman of upper house.
The minister said Nawaz Sharif had always respected all national institutions including judiciary and he had launched a long march for its restoration in the past.
The PML-N and its leadership were in favour of accountability but it should be across the board and without any discrimination, adding Nawaz Sharif and his party were believe in supremacy of law and constitution in the country.
Replying to a question, he said Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and its chief Imran Khan were doing politics of allegations from day one and had failed to provide any evidence regarding corruption against the PML-N or its leadership before the courts.
Tariq Chaudhry said two major political parties including PML-N and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had learnd from past mistakes and due to it they had signed a Charter of Democracy (CoD), adding that PML-N had implemented it.
