ECP expresses reservations on UNDP report about Overseas Pakistanis voting

ISLAMABAD, (APP): Secretary Election Commission Babar
Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad on Tuesday said that the ECP has reservations
on the report submitted by consultant of UNDP on Overseas Pakistanis
voting rights.
Talking to media after the inauguration of a media centre in
the ECP, he said that ECP is making efforts to conduct next general
elections in more transparent way.
He said that there is no room for committing any mistake in
the elections, adding that ECP is considering all the
recommendations and reports on overseas Pakistanis rights to vote
and would not decide the matter in haste as it is linked to the fate
of people.
ECP will also use electronic voting machines (EVMs) as an
experiment in the upcoming by elections and a summary for purchase
of the machines has also been sent to the Prime Minister’s
Secretariat, the Secretary said.
Terming media as fourth pillar of the Election Commission
strategic plan, he said that media’s role is very important for
accountability and conducting the next general elections
transparently.
ECP will also shift Voters list system from NADRA to ECP by
December 31, he added.
Answering a query, he said that the political finance wing of
the ECP can examine the PANAMA leaks.
