EU urged to help oppressed Kashmiris secure birth right

ISLAMABAD, Nov 9 (APP): Speakers of a conference at European
Parliament called the Kashmiri diaspora based in different parts
of the world to increase worldwide awareness to help oppressed
people of occupied Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a conference titled,
“The Struggle of Kashmiri Diaspora: Constraints and Resources”
held under chair of EU Member parliament Afzal Khan on the second
day of Kashmir EU-Week at European Parliament in Brussels.
The week-long program `Kashmir EU-Week’ was inaugurated by
AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan.
The speakers called upon the international community
especially the European Union to help people of Jammu and Kashmir
in achieving their right of self-determination.
Addressing the conference, Raja Farooq Haider said, India is
trying to deflect attention of international community from severe
violation of human rights in occupied Kashmir, adding that firing
on the Line of Control (LoC) by Indian forces has become a routine
matter and the peace situation in South Asia is critical due to
the Indian attitude. He said, we as Kashmiris should keep the
Kashmir issue in the radar of international community.
Kashmir Council European Union Chairman, Ali Raza Syed,
called for more motivation and struggle at international level on
the issue. He thanked AJK Prime Minister and other guests for
participating in the conference.
Germany-based Free Kashmir Organisation Chairman, Saddique
Kiyani, called for an end to Indian brutalities in occupied
Kashmir. Dr Irfan Khalid from UK said, we must focus on how we can
be helpful to end the repression in the occupied territory.
Farzana Afzal, Sabiha Khan, Shahjahan, Waheeda Khan, Kaneez
Akhtar, Yasmin Daar, Samina Khan from UK also spoke on the
occasion.
Director Kashmir Centre Holland, Zeb Khan, said that the
people of Kashmir had long suffered under the different oppressive
rule and their suffering were not being ended.
The speakers urged the European Union (EU) to play an
effective role to stop Indian brutalities against the Kashmiris.
At the conclusion of the conference, the AJK Prime Minister
also handed over a special shield to MEP Afzal Khan for his
efforts for highlighting the Kashmir cause.
The Kashmir EU-Week which is being organized by Kashmir
Council EU, would continue till 11th November. The week programmes
comprise international conferences, seminars, debates, workshops,
video casting of a documentary and a photos and a handicraft
exhibition.
A report containing latest facts and figures of causalities
specially victims of pellet guns in occupied Kashmir would also be
presented during the EU-Week.
