LAHORE, (MILLAT/APP): The 106th birth anniversary
of the world renowed, poet, journalist and intellectual, Faiz
Ahmad Faiz was observed here on Monday.
Saleema Hashmi, the daughter of Faiz Ahmad Faiz,
cut the cake to mark the birthday of her father.
Faiz Ahmad Faiz is regarded as a great poet after
Allama Iqbal, Mirza Ghalib and Mir Taqi Mir. Faiz’s
poetry depicts love and revolutionary ideas.
He authored a number of poetry books during his life.
He had undergone four-year jail due to his revolutionery
ideology.
Faiz was awarded Lenin Peace award in 1963 by former
Soviet Union. Faiz had full command over Urdu, English,
Punjabi, Persian and Arbic languages.
He also served in Pakistan Times as chief editor
and wrote marvelous editorials.
