FATA MNA lauds Kurram Tangi dam project

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT+APP): Member of National Assembly from
South Waziristan Maulana Jamal ud Din has said that construction
of Kurram Tangi dam in North Waziristan Agency was an appreciable
step on the part of America.
While talking to a foreign radio, he said the project, once completed, would bring prosperity to the area and would make its inhabitants self-sufficient as far as their wheat needs were concerned.
He said this dam would not only benefit
people of Waziristan but other agencies of FATA and adjoining
districts would also benefit from it.
He said the area was underdeveloped and therefore
government should focus on it to bring it at par with other areas
of the country.
According to report, the US has said that it would provide 81
million dollars to Pakistan for the construction of Kurram Tangi
dam in North Waziristan Agency.
An agreement was signed in this regard between the two
sides. American ambassador to Pakistan and Federal Minister for
Water and Power Khawaja Asif also attended the ceremony. According
to the details released in a statement, the project will irrigate
16,000 acre land and will produce 83 MW electricity.
