Father jailed for failing to produce `wanted’ son in court

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT ONLINE/APP): A court in Srinagar sentenced, in
occupied Kashmir, the father of a juvenile to four months in
prison for failing to produce his son, who is on a run to escape
hunt by police.
According to Kashmir Meia Service, chief Judicial Magistrate
Srinagar issued the order after the juvenile remained absent from
hearings. The juvenile is wanted to police on charges of stone-
pelting. The police have filed a false case against him at Police
Station Maharaj Gunj in Srinagar.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar sent the father,
Shabbir Ahmad Khan, to jail as he was unable to produce his son
for hearings.
The court also sought school records for ascertaining the
age of the juvenile and directed the principal of Vasanta High
School in Kral Khud, where the juvenile studied, to produce
relevant records on April 27 to verify his age. The court has
sought verification of the boy’s age to conclude the enquiry.
Shabbir Ahmad Khan appeared in court on February 17 and was
directed to produce his son, the failure drew the wrath of the
court and he was, therefore, sent to jail.
