Gilani concerned over deteriorating health of detainees

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT ONLINE):The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani in Indian Occupied Kashmir, has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health condition of illegally detained Kashmiris lodged in various prisons including New Delhi’s Tihar jail.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar strongly denounced the prolonged and unlawful detention of senior APHC leader, Masarrat Aalam Butt.
He said that Masarrat Aalam was languishing in jail since long and it was quite disheartening that he was being subjected to political vengeance by puppet authorities and despite court orders he was not released.
The APHC Chairman expressing serious concern over the health condition of Kashmiri detainees in Tihar, Udhampur, Kathua and Kot Bhalwal jails said, “Despite their falling health, no medical treatment is provided to them.”
He pointed out that India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) had failed to prove anything with any substantial proof against the Hurriyat leaders and other Kashmiris it had arrested. “There was no evidence against Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Peer Saifullah, Merajuddin Kalwal, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Shahid Yusuf and Zahoor Watali. Hence, there is no moral or legal justification to detain them,” he added.
Syed Ali Gilani paid rich tributes to incarcerated Hurriyat leaders and activists including Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, Dr Shafi Shariati, Ghulam Qadir Butt, Feroz Ahmed Butt and Pervaiz Ahmed, who have spent many years behind the bars. He said that the authorities were prolonging their detention on one pretext or the other.
He demanded immediate release of all the Kashmiri detainees.
The APHC Chairman also appealed to the Amnesty International, Asia Watch, and other world human rights organisations to take cognisance of the plight of the Kashmiri prisoners and use influence for their release.
