Gilani condemns arrest of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat activist in IOK

ISLAMABAD, (APP): All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC)
Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani has condemned the arrest of Tehreek-e-Hurriyet
activist, Ashiq Hussain Sofi, by Indian police and demanded his immediate
release.
According to KMS, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Held
Srinagar said, “We express our deep concern and anguish over the arrest of Tehreek-e-Hurriyet activist.Ashiq is a responsible official of a publication institute and his arrest has no moral, constitutional justification”.
He warned that if anything untoward happens with Ashiq, it will have
serious consequences and its responsibility will be on police.He expressed
his apprehension that Ashiq will be subjected to torture in custody.
The APHC Chairman said that Tehreek-e-Hurriyet activist should be
immediately released because his detention had no justification.He also
appealed to the world human rights organizations to take serious notice of the illegal detention of Ashiq and use their influence for his release.
Meanwhile, Tehreek-e-Hurriyet has strongly condemned the police raids
on its leaders, activists and described it as frustration of the authorities.
It also denounced the arrest of Ashiq Hussain Sofi of Khanyar and his
shifting to some unknown place.
