Govt is promoting cooperation with private hospitals

LAHORE, Mar 4 (APP): Provincial Minister for Specialised
Healthcare & Medical Education Khwaja Salman Rafique has
said that the government is promoting cooperation with private
hospitals for providing quality medical facilities to the
people.
Addressing the inaugural session of second 3-day
conference, being organised in connection with cardiac
and respiratory diseases at Gulab Devi Hospital here on
Saturday, he said that the government and private sector
could handle health challenges jointly. Besides upgradation
of hospitals, new hospitals are being constructed, he added.
Kh Salman said that Gulab Devi Hospital had an excellent
history and it had rendered invaluable services for
providing treatment facilities to the poor patients. He said
that the recommendations of 3-day international conference
would prove fruitful for treatment of cardiac and
respiratory diseases. He said that the government would also
consider recommendations of the conference.
He said that on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister
Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, all DHQ and THQ hospitals in
the province were being provided with modern medical equipment
and other facilities. He said that increasing population as well
as diseases were a great challenge for the government. He said
that experts would have to come forward tackle these chalenges.
He said that 40 hospitals would be revamped till August 2017.
Kh Salman said that hundreds of beds have been added to
various hospitals during the last three years, and presently
four more hospitals comprising 500-bed each were being constructed.
He said that the Provincial Health Department was starting
joint venture with Gulab Devi Hospital for the treatment of cardiac patients.
Earlier, Chairman Gulab Devi Hospital Syed Shahid Ali and
Medical Superintendent Dr Hamid also spoke on the occasion and gave details about the performance of the hospital.
