Healthcare facilities to be improved through IT: Shehbaz

LAHORE, July 4 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz
Sharif Monday said that healthcare facilities in hospitals would
be improved through the use of information technology and all out
resources will be made available for this purpose.
The CM expressed these remarks while presiding over a high
level meeting, here which reviewed the measures for benefitting
from information technology for improvement of treatment facilities
in hospitals.
He said that maximum use of information technology in
hospitals has become the need of the hour and information technology management system is essential for healthcare system.
The chief minister said that measure taken with the help
of information technology for ensuring availability of best medical facilities in hospitals will yield positive results.
The meeting decided to introduce information management system
in teaching and district headquarter hospitals under a phased
programme.
Shehbaz Sharif directed to evolve a comprehensive plan with
regard to hospital information management system. He said that the
new system would be introduced with the cooperation of Punjab
Information Technology Board and Indus Hospital while staff of
the concerned hospitals will also be imparted special training. Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board Dr. Umer Saif
briefed about the measures taken in health sector through the use
of information technology.
Advisor on Health Kh. Salman Rafique, Chief Secretary,
Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary Specialized Health and
Medical Education, Secretary Primary and Secondary Health,
Chairman Punjab Healthcare Commission and senior officials were
present in the meeting.
