ICT police takes action against 3202 beggars last year

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT/APP): Islamabad Capital Police (ICT) has
taken action against 3203 beggars during year 2016 to break their
professional networks and curb this menace from our society.
As many as 98 cases were registered under 9/10 Vagrancy Act
1958 in different police stations, besides that a number of steps to
control the beggary within federal capital under the government
directions.
The major actions included establishment of Anti-Beggary
Squads within ICT to apprehend the beggars including the minor
children loitering in the area of Federal Capital at various points,
official sources informed APP.
These squad are comprising of two upper subordinate
six cops and two lady constables.
The patrolling system within ICT has been revamped and the
Station House Officer’s (SHOs) of all the Police Stations of ICT
have been strictly directed to utilize their mobiles as well as
staff from Rescue-15 to curb this menace.
A rational number of pickets (Nakabandi) have been established
on various key points of ICT which are functioning round the clock.
Proper Nakabandi of all exit and entry points of Islamabad are
also being held randomly alongwith other places at different venues
and times.
It is further mentioned that a control room has also been
established at Rescue-15 under the supervision of a Gazetted officer
and progress regarding the performance of (picket) Nakas is being
monitored on daily basis.
Special instructions have been given to all Nakabandi Points
to keep an eye upon the professionals who bring the small children
in vehicles for beggary within Islamabad.
Special deployments of cops have also been made in market
areas of the capital beside anti beggary squads and mobile
patrolling.
For the elimination/control on beggary within Islamabad, a
monthly security duty program is properly being issued.
The personnel from traffic Division have also been deployed at
different signals with the directions to arrest the beggars
male/female/children found begging at the signals.
Officials from Special Branch have also been deployed at
different Markets/places in civvies to eliminate this social evil.
For the elimination/control of beggary, the concerned zonal
Superintendent of Police and supervisory duty Magistrates are
directly supervising the campaign against this social evil.
