IHC seeks reply on appointments of FPSC Members

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT ONLINE):Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday sought reply from federation, in plea challenging appointment of Members of Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC), within two weeks.
Justice Aamir Farooq issued notices to Secretary Establishment, Secretary FPSC, its newly appointed members and Accountant General Pakistan Revenue (AGPR) while hearing a petition filed by a citizen Naeem Akhtar.
Junaid Akhtar counsel for the petitioner alleged before the bench that authorities on 11-11-2017 issued an impugned notification regarding appointments of Members FPSC violating FPSC Ordinance 1977 and Regulations 1978.
He argued that no serving government servant shall be appointed as member of the Commission in which at least one member would be retired judge of the superior judiciary, one member would be retired army officer not below the rank of Major General, one woman and a person from private sector having experience and qualification as the federal government prescribed.
Akhtar alleged that authorities, illegally and unlawfully violated the criteria and instead of ensuring correct composition of FPSC.
The counsel pleaded that the recent four appointments as Commission’s member were liable to be set aside and requested the bench to restrain them from discharging any official work till disposal of this petition.

He further prayed to restrain AGPR from making any payment to newly appointed Members of FPSC on account of their salaries and park and privilege till final decision of the matter.
The bench after hearing the preliminary arguments accepted plea for hearing and issued notices to the respondents.
